The Huntsman Cancer Foundation contacted me about creating a vinyl decal for local business that make donations. I've been wanting to work with DieCutStickers.com for a while, so after I created the art work, I contacted them for the production. The prices were fair and the turn around was quick. The foundation (as well as myself) is very pleased with these. I can't wait to see them placed around town at various business.

As we continue our exploits into the world of "green" printing, I decided to take a straightforward direction to drive home the concept of growing an idea. Recycled paper and nature imagery helps solidify the theme. The images here are the approved concepts. I'll update with views of the printed final piece when available.

I was asked to design an invitation for a Valentines dinner at the last minute. I came up with a few concepts, but this one I really liked. I didn't have access to the menu, so I did not want to use any images of food incase I used an image of something not being served. The typography keeps it fun and gets the valentine's theme across quite well. Inspiration came from all the AIGA mailers I get all the time as a current member.

Here are the updated layouts of the public Huntsman Cancer Institute website (left), as well as the internal (right). The chosen CMS for this overhaul ended up being Joomla due to its relatively low cost and open source nature. So far its been fun exploring the Joomla technology and features, but realize that we will soon need to update our base platform for the html5 migration.

The Huntsman Cancer Foundation's fundraising team is quite active! They run, bike, swim, and sometimes do all three in one day! These are a few of the concepts I have developed for the new team jersey's. One is more rock and roll themed, while the other is more subtle with clean lines. The previous years design was dark blue/black, and in the Utah sun it can be quite warm. I came up with some lighter options to help keep the athletes cooler during the summer events.

Surfline.com, a website that allows surfers a preview wave conditions online, held a logo contest for their 25th Anniversary. Since surfing has been one of my passions for many years, I could not pass up the opportunity to throw a few ideas together and submit them. I was getting a little retro with these before the version with the webcam came about. I hope to throw together another idea or two before the contest ends.

This promotional piece is for a corporate function. The distressed look lends to the green idea of reusing materials (ie - recycled paper). Its been quite a successful campaign getting Huntsman Cancer Institute to move toward the use of more green friendly printing processes and materials.

Huntsman

As the Web Administrator and one of two in-house Graphic Designers at Huntsman Cancer Institute, the days are never dull. Duties here include all web maintenance and design, as well as keeping tabs on all social media fronts. Facebook and Twitter have become a major media outlet with updated information constantly posted. We are currently in the process of designing a brand new external and internal website, as well as a mobile site for viewing on smart phones. I'll post updated pictures after we launch those live.

While I was working in the marketing department of COBB Tuning, I was in charge of keeping the website updated while managing an in-house sales team. Duties included everything from copywriting, to creating unique web buttons and banners, taking product images, and designing t-shirts and hats. This site was a CMS that still utilized quite a bit of HTML and Flash. It was a great experience that helped me learn and grow into the web administrator position I currently hold at Huntsman Cancer Institute.

Constructionbanners

When HCI started construction on the hospital side of our building, I saw an opportunity to take advantage of the blank space that the green fence provided. I developed a few banners that highlight a few services and achievements that HCI is proud of. Once a few banners were in place, several departments wanted a banner of their own for "advertising".

Thu, 29 Apr 2010 10:58:30 -0700 2009 Annual Report, HCI going green! http://jlubecki.posterous.com/2009-annual-report-hci-going-green http://jlubecki.posterous.com/2009-annual-report-hci-going-green
Annualreport2009

Since I started working for HCI, our annual reports have been pretty lengthy. Being close to 20 pages meant they also were expensive. In an attempt to kill two birds with one stone, I proposed that we step back from the huge printed piece, and take a more green approach. A smaller sized tri-fold brochure that was a "snap shot" of the annual report, which we would expand in an online version. This layout not only saves money (even when printed on recycled paper), but prevents excess waste.

Thu, 29 Apr 2010 10:52:38 -0700 Seed Paper http://jlubecki.posterous.com/seed-paper http://jlubecki.posterous.com/seed-paper
Seedpaper

I came up with this idea to use paper that has flower seeds embedded into it as a "leave behind" for our patients and donors. You can plant these cards and grow a bouquet of wildflowers. These business card sized promotion pieces celebrate the expansion of our hospital. Hence giving the "Reason to Grow" mantra double meaning.
